Project Description
Protestant church in Ohlweiler
Ohlweiler, Germany
Artist: Eberhard Münch
In the course of extensive renovation work at the Protestant church in Ohlweiler, the artist Eberhard Münch was commissioned to redesign it. His complete design of the church interior included a colour scheme, the creation of murals with calligraphy sections and design of the church windows. Since March 2016 the church has looked resplendent in a new light.
As the diamond-shaped windows made of float glass were not intended to be closed completely, the artist set large coloured glass strips of various sizes in filigree partial frames in the reveal.
For the glass art, float glass was provided with multi-layered gestural painting and pre-tensioned to form safety glass. The windowpanes were given added luminosity and depth through applications of mouth-blown clear and coloured glass of Glashütte Lamberts. It was thus possible to implement the artist’s design perfectly.
