PRINTING ON GLASS

Various printing methods are available for printing onto glass: Screen printing, digital printing, ceramic digital printing for authentic reproduction of photographic pictures, scriptures, repeating ornament shapes etc., printing can be a suitable production method.

Silk-Screen Printing

Glass colors are pressed through a silk-screen and afterwards fired onto the glass.

Digital printing

Two different methods of digital printing are available:

Float glass can be printed with organic inks, which are mostly transparent, highly saturated and very vibrant. After printing, the colors are annealed, which leaves the glass surface sensitive to scratching. Thus the organic print is best protected within a laminated glass unit.

In contrast, the colors used for the digital ceramic print are fired into the glass after application. As a result, the colors are less sensitive and UV-resistant. The benefit of the ceramic print is, that the printed glass can be fired again, allowing it to be further refined using hand painting or airbrushing.
