We hope you had a wonderful holiday and a great start to the new year.
Are you excited about what’s happening over the next months? We are – and here’s why:
When our workshop reopens after our annual winter holiday, there are several new and exciting projects waiting to be started. In addition, the new year sees the installation of several major projects, which we completed in 2022.
Let us show you, what we are looking forward to:
Ulrich Bernhardt – Technical University of Kaiserslautern
As winner of a large public art call-for-artists, German artist Ulrich Bernhard designed a site-specific 35-part glass façade for the new research laboratory at TU Kaiserslautern. For over than two months, our painters were working on the individual glass panels, some of which are 17’ 3” high. They applied several coats of transparent glass paints by hand and airbrushing. Afterwards, the paint was fired onto the glass surface and the panels were processed to tempered glass, then being installed as part of insulated glass units.
Whilst the façade has already been installed, the building hasn’t opened yet and we are looking forward to spring, when the inauguration is scheduled.
Günther Uecker – St. Marien Cathedral, Schwerin
Right after our winter vacation, we will start this exciting new project: At the age of 92, renown German painter Günther Uecker has designed four windows for the St. Marien Cathedral in Schwerin.
To translate his energetic painting into glass, our painters will delicately etch hand-blown flashed glass and then further refine the panels with glass paints, which are fired onto the glass after application.
Leiko Ikemura – St. Nicholas’ Church, Bad Wilsnack
We are working on the finishing touches for the seven windows designed by artist Leiko Ikemura for the pilgrimage church of St. Nicholas.
To translate Ikemura’s fluid design, our painters worked in close collaboration with the artist: At first they slump molded the glass slightly, for a subtle texture. Afterwards, they airbrushed the panels with multiple layers of glass paints, which were then fired into the glass surface.
We can’t wait to see the completed windows soon.

These projects will also be installed in 2023:
