Replicate natural stone “Spot”
Luxemburg, Luxemburg
Artist: Franck Miltgen
For the Immeuble administratif Post Mercier in Luxemburg the artist Franck Miltgen has created a very special artwork made of plate glass and stainless steel. At a height of 2.33m and a width of 2.70m, Spot in the foyer of the Mercier building is very eye-catching.
The greenish, smoke-grey wall consists of flat glass panes, which have been carefully stacked on top of each other and thus display a unique structure and surface.
By cutting the panes using a water jet process, Spot has achieved its very special structure and combines technically high-quality executed art with an exterior that looks almost like natural stone. Upon closer inspection, the float glass turns out to be uniquely multi-layered and recreates the old champagne cellars under the new building.
