Project Description

CATHOLIC CHURCH ST. VITUS, BIRKHAUSEN

Catholic Church St. Vitus

Birkhausen, Germany

Conservation and partial reconstruction of the 11 windows and installation of an external protective glazing; ornamental glazing with painting as well as one figurative window from the second half of the 19th century. The ornamental windows had been stored in the church since the 1920s and were heavily damaged. Since there was no numbering, all 80 panels had to be assigned to the different window openings with the aid of their ornaments as well as measures and templates taken on site. Completely or partially missing panels were reconstructed and completed matching the original substance.
